Let our story touch you
If you want to spend your vacation in an authentic Istrian village, where you are woken up in the morning by the crowing of a rooster and the chirping of birds hidden in the treetops, and in the distance you are greeted by the braying of an Istrian donkey, while the Mediterranean sun diligently peeks behind the Šavrina hills, then the Nostalgia holiday home is right for you. In an authentic Istrian ambience and a carefully selected style, the holiday house offers you a pleasant stay in it, which takes you to those ancient times, which are almost forgotten.
That's why we renovated and stylishly furnished the Istrian house for you, so that we can offer you a piece of the past - a piece of our old Istria.
The house in which you will be accommodated was built in 1898 and renovated in 2019. It is built from the surrounding gray sandstone, which was carved by the hardworking hands of our ancestors. The house has preserved a typical old fireplace, which was called the Istrian hearth, on which housewives called Šavrinka cooked. Every evening, the whole family gathered around the fire and told each other various stories, often singing old Istrian songs. Stara Ista used to be a very poor area. In order to survive, the Šavrinka had to go several times a week to the nearby and more developed Trieste, on foot accompanied by an Istrian donkey. They took to Trieste to sell the goods they had grown, but they came back with those they urgently needed and could not get or grow at home in Istria.

The upper rooms had bedrooms and an anteroom. They processed the food themselves, and the water was obtained from the well located next to the house. Our grandparents lived in this house, spending their days with their two small children - picture below in front of the house in 1957!
In addition to the house, they also had a barn with domestic animals. An indispensable animal in every village was the ox called "Boškarin", which replaced today's modern agricultural machines.
The house has been renovated in the old style and is equipped with original pieces of furniture. We have renovated it for you in the hope that you will feel comfortable in it and spend beautiful moments of your vacation.
